Accidentally selected “Open Work Permit” instead of PGWP on IMM5710 — What can I do?

Hi everyone,

I applied for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after completing my studies, but I made a mistake on my IMM5710 form. I accidentally selected “Open Work Permit” instead of “Post-Graduation Work Permit.”

My study permit expired on April 27, and I submitted my application before the expiry date. IRCC has now already acknowledged/started processing my application, but it seems to be under the wrong category because of this selection error.

Everything else in my application is correct (completion letter, transcripts, etc. were all submitted properly).

I am wondering:

  1. Can I correct this through an IRCC webform at this stage?

  2. Has anyone had a similar situation and successfully fixed it without refusal?

  3. Will IRCC automatically assess it as PGWP even if I selected the wrong option, since the supporting documents clearly show I’m eligible?

I’ve seen mixed opinions online, so I’m hoping to hear from people who actually went through something similar.

Any advice or shared experiences would really help.

Thankyou
