THE TOPIC: In the novel, the process by which physicist Shevek develops his theory of "simultaneity" is not only a scientific quest; it is also a journey in which ideological, social, and administrative conflicts between two different worlds (Anarres and Urras) are sharply compared. In this essay, you are expected to analyze the clash of the two world orders in the novel, focusing on Shevek's journey.
-Your essay should compare the social structures, governance concepts, and individual-society relations of the Anarres and Urras societies.
-The relationship between Shevek's scientific production process and the social conditions in which he lived should be discussed.
-Evaluation should be made especially through concepts such as "freedom," "equality," "property," "power," and "circulation of knowledge."
-It is essential to provide numerous direct and detailed examples from the work in interpreting the text. Arguments should be supported with quotations and case examples.
