I know people shit on him relentlessly, and yes he makes boneheaded mistakes but in the context of how he played for OUR team last year, I feel he was a massive net positive especially when also thinking about how much we paid him.
His energy, chemistry with Jokic, driving ability, and the intangibles like his ability to get a crowd hyped up, get the team motivated, etc. all are things we absolutely should not have sacrificed especially for someone on a Vet minimum contract.
MOST OF ALL, HE ELEVATED CHRISTIAN BRAUN. I know I’m not the only one who saw this. Any time they were on the court together you could VISIBLY see that CB‘s confidence would peak. That kind of veteran presence was missing completely this year, especially with injuries causing AG to be out.
I 100% believe that if we had him yesterday there’s no shot he would’ve just rolled over and folded like our guys did, he would’ve kept fighting relentlessly and in-turn motivated our squad.
He saved our clippers series last year alongside Gordon. If he wasn’t playing with his dominant hand badly injured in the Thunder series last year he would’ve undoubtedly made a bigger impact there as well. Jokic himself wanted him on our team.
I love Bruce as much as the next Nuggets fan, but I don’t think he brought what he was supposed to this year.
