Since choosing the climber as my edc, I’ve added some “necessary” upgrades. Found these micarta plus scales on Etsy, added the additional implements, and got a dangler clip from Amazon. Can’t get enough of this one
A few days ago I made a post that I purchased a climber for edc but was looking at replacing it with a compact as I felt the climber was too chunky. Well, I purchased the compact and I have to say there is virtually no difference in the pocket.
Holding each in the hand, yes I can feel a difference in their thickness. However, when they’re in my pocket I can’t tell which is which. Maybe an ever so slight weight difference if I have one in one pocket and the other in another. But on a dangler or in my fifth jeans pocket there is no difference.
At this point, I am completely satisfied with the climber and chalked up my internal struggle to a classic case of overthinking. I prefer the thickness of the climber in hand during usage and for one extra layer you get the pen knife, the awl, and the classic two piece opener layer. This is a no brainer for me.
