I'm currently in middle of Wishy-Washy situation. Please advise me!

Hello humans! I'm trying to make my rc runs slower because its top speed is too high(for me) so it's pretty hard to control with the throttle. I have to be very gentle on the throttle to make it go slow. So i did some digging on the internet and I found two options.

Option 1 : Replace the motor with higher turn value(55T)

Option 2 : Attach gear reduction unit(check the pic)

I'm using brushed normal 540 motor and I can't figure out which one is better!

Is this rc car STEERING ROD connected properly?

Hello humans! I'm new to RC and new to REDDIT and new to ENGLISH. Basically I'm new to everything haha. I'm really happy to joined this community and look forward to learning more from everyone. Anyway lets get straight to da point.

I bought this rc recently and doing a basic inspection before running it for the first time. And I noticed that the steering rod is connected to ball end just like the photo I attached.

Is it normal to connected like that? Or is it missing some sort of screw?
