US B1/B2 VUSA rejection - Hyderabad Consulate, India 😢😢😢
Me and my wife attended our US B1/B2 Interview at Hyderabad Consulate, India
We both work in the top US banks and we each have 7 years of experience in the tech industry and our hostess, my cousin, is a Lead Engineer in the US.
The questions seemed pretty basic, except for the question about our salary (seemed tricky as we didn't have our basic salary handy) and the VO refused our VISA under Section 214 (b). Our interviewer didn't even check the hostesses VISA or other details.
Below are the questions & the responses to it:
- What is the purpose of travel
My answer : We are visiting my cousin for a short vacation of 2 to 3 weeks
- Where do you work?
A. I am working as a Senior Engineer at X company in India
My wife : I am working as a Associate at Y company, Hyderabad
- How much is your annual salary?
A. My salary is 34 lakhs per annum
My wife : My annual salary is 23 lakhs
- What is your base salary?
A. 32 lakhs
My wife : Base is 10 lakhs, and overall salary is 23 lakhs
- What does your cousin do?
A. He is working as a Lead Engineer at Z company
- When did you guys marry?
A. July 2025
- Did you visit any other country?
A. I visited Sri Lanka and Malaysia last year
What could be the reason for rejection? How is this rejection going to impact my VISA approvals for other countries in the future?
