I brew a cup of coffee
Though I never learned how
It tastes bitter yet watered down
And always burns the roof of your mouth
I serve it to someone close
Tell her of how its mine
Even though she's drank plenty others
I convince her to try
The bitterness is off-putting
It lacks depth and taste
Probably burned the beans
Or stopped pouring too late
However, it is always drank
Not enjoyed, but tolerated
So I brew some more
Not changing a thing
The taste buds get used to the bitter
And stop looking for much else
The mouth scars and grows thicker
Can't be burnt and can't be felt
My coffee makes great success
She keeps asking for more, though I want to give less
For though I like the smell of coffee
It's the taste of tea that fits me best
