Newsletter was perfectly optimized for Google. Then AI Mode happened.

I'm building Trendseer — a tool that spots content trends early, before they go mainstream, and also the topics currently trending. So I spend a lot of time talking to creators about what's changing.

The pattern I keep hearing from newsletter writers right now:

Traffic dropped ~30% in 60 days. Open rates flat. Subscriber quality fine. But organic discovery basically stopped.

Most assumed it was a content problem. Rewrote editorial calendars. Changed posting frequency. Nothing moved.

Then they pulled Search Console data and noticed: rankings hadn't changed much. CTR had. Significantly.

Google AI Mode. 1 billion monthly queries. 93% zero-click. If someone searches a question you rank for, Google now answers it in the results page — they don't visit.

Your audience is finding answers without finding you.

The ones figuring it out are shifting from ranking to citation strategy. Primary data. Opinionated positions. Structural formatting.

Has anyone here made this shift and seen results? Genuinely curious whether it's a 2-month or 6-month lag before citation starts driving discovery.

(Side note: Trendseer - Free trial if curious, testing it out. Would love your feedback... Not the point of this post, though, just being upfront.)
