36F, mom of a toddler, working from home, dealing with brain fog, fatigue, hair fall, weird hunger/cravings, and borderline thyroid labs. Has anyone experienced this?

I was obese as a child but never had any thyroid issues.

Postpartum in the the last few months I’ve been dealing with:

  • brain fog / low motivation to work
  • hair fall
  • difficulty losing weight
  • intense hunger at night and early morning
  • binging tendences ( i had such issues but i was able to control it before)
  • lighter periods than usual
  • feeling unusually hot when others are comfortable
  • feeling really depressed and just want to lie in bed
  • feeling really emotional and getting triggered at the tiniest bit of problem.

I recently got bloodwork done on 11th April 2026

Thyroid:

  • TSH was 2.57
  • Total T3 - 0.9
  • Total T4 - 4.7
  • Ferritin - 10.1
  • B12 = 599
  • Vitamin D = 51

The doctor didn't want to give thyroid meds right away. She asked me to repeat thyroid tests after a month and gave me multivitamins and vitamin E.

She asked me to improve my sleeping habits, focus on reducing stress and medidate. I go to gym 3-4 times a week and average 6000 steps per day.

I got the test done again today:

  • TSH = 3.88
  • Free T4 = 0.9
  • Free T3 = 5.6 (normal)

Reports said I’m “euthyroid”

From what I understand, ferritin may actually be the bigger issue even though serum iron was “normal.”

Has anyone had similar symptoms from low ferritin / borderline thyroid function even with “normal” labs? Did improving ferritin help with:

  • brain fog
  • hair fall
  • cravings/hunger
  • weight loss resistance?

Trying to understand whether this sounds more like iron depletion, stress/hormonal issues, early thyroid dysfunction, or all combined.
