36F, mom of a toddler, working from home, dealing with brain fog, fatigue, hair fall, weird hunger/cravings, and borderline thyroid labs. Has anyone experienced this?
I was obese as a child but never had any thyroid issues.
Postpartum in the the last few months I’ve been dealing with:
- brain fog / low motivation to work
- hair fall
- difficulty losing weight
- intense hunger at night and early morning
- binging tendences ( i had such issues but i was able to control it before)
- lighter periods than usual
- feeling unusually hot when others are comfortable
- feeling really depressed and just want to lie in bed
- feeling really emotional and getting triggered at the tiniest bit of problem.
I recently got bloodwork done on 11th April 2026
Thyroid:
- TSH was 2.57
- Total T3 - 0.9
- Total T4 - 4.7
- Ferritin - 10.1
- B12 = 599
- Vitamin D = 51
The doctor didn't want to give thyroid meds right away. She asked me to repeat thyroid tests after a month and gave me multivitamins and vitamin E.
She asked me to improve my sleeping habits, focus on reducing stress and medidate. I go to gym 3-4 times a week and average 6000 steps per day.
I got the test done again today:
- TSH = 3.88
- Free T4 = 0.9
- Free T3 = 5.6 (normal)
Reports said I’m “euthyroid”
From what I understand, ferritin may actually be the bigger issue even though serum iron was “normal.”
Has anyone had similar symptoms from low ferritin / borderline thyroid function even with “normal” labs? Did improving ferritin help with:
- brain fog
- hair fall
- cravings/hunger
- weight loss resistance?
Trying to understand whether this sounds more like iron depletion, stress/hormonal issues, early thyroid dysfunction, or all combined.
