Hi, posting here as I've not received any helpful responses from the course staff since I first raised this a few weeks ago, and the grading deadline is coming up.
I believe Exam 3 Question 1 for CS6515 was incorrect. I can't post the question here - it was asking to prove a particular problem was NP-complete. I believe the problem definition allowed for certain edge cases, and the accepted solution does not account for these edge cases. I have raised this multiple times in the CS6515 channels but have not received a response explaining why I'm wrong, so I'm assuming for now that I'm right.
I spent a considerable proportion of the exam trying to solve the provided question including the various edge cases. When I wasn't able to solve it, I made an assumption to exclude the edge cases and solved it the accepted way. However, this left me little time to check the answer and left me to rush through the rest of the exam. (It was also coupled with an Honorlock issue that took away another 35 minutes of my exam time).
I believe students should not be penalised for errors made by course staff. I was trying to figure out what a fair course of action might be since the question was otherwise effectively testing the required concepts, so it's also not right to disregard it altogether. I think all students should get bonus points for that question. Is there an accepted course of action for such issues?
