▲ 2 r/PhD

I wanted to share where I'm at, mostly because I wish I had seen posts like this when I started.

Here's my current situation:

- 1 non-Scopus paper published

- 1 conference paper waiting for Scopus indexing

- 2 papers under review at Q1 journals

- 1 paper under review at a 99th percentile journal

All of these are solo-authored. I work full-time and do my PhD on the side, so time is always a challenge. Rejections, and months of waiting have been part of it too.

A few things that helped me:

- Writing consistently (mostly after work or weekends)

- Targeting the right journals from the start

- Reading reviewer comments as feedback, not criticism

My questions for you:

- Are any of you balancing a full-time job with publishing? How do you manage it?

- Any tips for solo authors specifically?

- What's the hardest part of the review process for you?

Would love to hear your experiences. We don't talk about the grind enough.
