14K gold diamond cufflinks — trying to identify maker’s mark 585 JWD, possibly Birks?
I inherited a pair of 14 karat gold cufflinks and am trying to identify the maker’s mark before selling them. The stamp on the toggle bar reads 585 JWD — 585 confirming 14K gold, but I can’t find any information on JWD.
The cufflinks are rectangular with a brushed/satin finish center panel and polished gold border, with a single round-cut diamond set in the center of each one. Total weight for the pair is 12.7 grams. The style looks consistent with 1960s–70s Canadian fine jewelry and I’ve been told they may have originated from Birks (Henry Birks & Sons), Canada’s most prestigious jeweler.
I’m attaching a close-up of the stamp as well as a front-facing photo of the pair. Any help identifying the JWD maker’s mark — or confirming/ruling out a Birks connection — would be greatly appreciated. Happy to take additional photos if needed.
