Hello, new to the sub. I don't know if this helps but these are the factors that increase the chances of sleep paralysis in me:
- Heat.
I almost never get SP if I'm cold. It's almost always when it's hot, or when I took a nap with layers of fabric that trap the heat (covers, denim jeans, etc).
- Dehydration.
I guess it's related to heat, but I always wake up sweating and feeling a lot of thirst.
- sleeping on my back.
I have felt sp sleeping on my side, but it's rare. Most of the time it's because I fell asleep face up.
- Taking a Nap
I don't get sp in all of my naps, but all my sp episodes have been during naps during daytime. I don't ever recall having sp when going to sleep at night.
