How to get supervision hours without being an RBT/BI?

I’ll be starting my masters in the fall and have about 8 years of experience working as an RBT/BI, along with a few years as a spec ed teacher.

We all know RBT/BI’s are paid terribly and I’m not at a point in life that I can continue being paid that low while going through a masters program but I’ll of course need supervision hours. Teaching is not an option anymore because I’d need a different certification that I currently don’t have.

What are other roles that pay well that could count towards getting my supervision hours?

Western mPED, Capella, or FIT

Hi everyone!

I was recently accepted into the Western University MPEd ABA program in Canada, but am having second thoughts of whether I should apply elsewhere as well.

I know FIT is well known, but it would cost about double with the exchange rate (I’m Canadian). Colleagues have told me that at the end of either program I’d be a BCBA so just go with whatever is cheaper. I’m also a little concerned about doing a MPEd vs a MA or MS. Any thoughts on this?

My ideal scenario would be an online dual masters ABA and OBM program. I’m considering Capella University because they offer this and I want to keep doors open in the future if I was to want pivot away from being a BCBA. It’s also online (like Western) so I wouldn’t need to relocate. But I’ve heard about Capella’s program not being the greatest. Honestly if FIT’s dual masters ABA/OBM program was online I’d apply in a heartbeat but unfortunately it’s offered only in person…

Any advice is super appreciated!
