Cantonese/touchpad input support

My 71 y/o father-in-law wants a computer for basic browsing and watching YouTube. He only really uses his phone and previous attempts to get him to use MacBooks etc. have failed miserably.

My plan is to install arch on a machine and keep it as minimal as possible so he doesn’t get overwhelmed and I can maintain it remotely as part of my tailnet.

One problem is he doesn’t know English nor how to use a keyboard (he’s from Hong Kong so speaks Cantonese and is fairly computer illiterate). I’m wondering how well arch supports Cantonese + stylus input for typing so he can draw out the characters like he does on his phone.

Couldn’t find too much online about this so hoping one of you has an idea - TIA!

PS I know he’s probably better suited to have a tablet of some sort but he saw me build a PC for my brother-in-law and now he’s dead set on having one too

I’ve recently had some work done on my house where we got quotes from a few different companies to do the job. We decided on one company and then had to tell the rest that we weren’t going to need their services.

In my culture (English) it’s very normal, and sometimes considered helpful, to say you’re going with another company and why.

My wife (who is Khmer) told me doing this in Cambodia is disrespectful and instead you should lie to those companies and tell them that you’ve decided against the project or you’ll wait a bit longer - or just stop responding to them altogether. Our colleagues also agreed with her on this so I assume it is the norm.

I totally understand why this could be disrespectful if turning down a company in front of other people, but when it’s just a one-on-one conversation? If I owned my own business I’d really want to know why people weren’t buying my product, otherwise how can I improve?

I’m still adjusting to the culture and I’m trying to avoid being rude - is there a proper way to give feedback here?
