Help with mini shorts, how does it end up bigger at the bum and shorter at the front.

I want mini shorts. So the front will be super short, but the bum will need to be longer to cover it all. But does anyone have experience with this? How do i do that? Do i keep working in the back and adding more rows at the back???

Either way i want it to stop just after the leg opening at the front and back.

Btw, would u recommend dc or half double stitch
