Hi,

My mastiff was bit was a copperhead (we identified it several ways) about 4 days ago, Friday evening. He had the rattlesnake vaccine, so the vet said he had some crossover protection. Anyway, per another vet, I gave him Benadryl. They said to only bring him in if he has diarrhea or vomiting. He didn't but we were too worried so we took him in. They offered bloodwork and such but the bill was so high we ended up giving him pain meds only. The receptionist told us he was going to be fine and only look for necrosis or worsening behavior. One thing she didn't mention and I didn't ask is, is it part of the healing process for him to have some dry looking blood in his stool? It looks a bit dark but definitely not black. It even has a small clump/clot of blood on it. I only noticed last night and this morning. The stool is normal size and texture but it has that. I have a picture but can't post it.

Can this be normal as part of the healing process?
