How bad is Shopify for SEO - from an Experienced SEO with 3 Decades of Experience.
I want people to know that Shopify is still a mess for SEO and if you are trying to achieve "content authority" in your niche, you never will, no matter how much content you throw at Shopify, nor how many expensive monthly apps you install, or how many backlinks you throw at it. Its just not setup as a CMS, no funnel, no content structure, just an ecommerce platform that you must spend countless dollars on advertising to bring any real traffic. I've given Shopify the benefit of the doubt twice in the last 5-7 years thinking that Yoast or some other SEO app would help the situation and been thoroughly disappointed. If you have more than products, and you want to fill your site with good content - there is no better platform than WordPress. That is my honest opinion after 30 years of SEO. Setup WordPress with a good "no bloat" page builder, install Rank Math - and watch your viewers pile in if your willing to do the backend work and fill it with a good content structure.
