What do we think

I’m going to tear it out regardless since it’s a knockout, but my gut tells me this is RRD. Not excessively thorny but the new thorns / growth are rubbery. The previous owners did not use herbicide / pesticide anywhere since it’s a registered wildlife habitat. We are on 10 acres with acreage around us so I doubt this is drift from other herbicide.

It’s a new property and I’m bringing my roses here - I will have them in containers far away.

We are moving to a new farm this week and I am hoping to take my 3 year old DA’s with me. They do have evidence of cane borers and I struggle with aphids all summer.

The new property has a few knock out roses but these would go an acre or two away from the house landscaping and into the field.

Any advice on how to transplant if I don’t have holes ready? Will they survive in 10 gallon pots for a few months? Photos are from today and we are in zone 7b.
