What software do you actually use (and what do you hate about it)?
Hi everyone,
I’m a product manager working on design software, and I’m currently researching real-world textile & surface pattern design workflows. I’m not here to promote or sell anything — just trying to learn directly from designers.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few questions:
- What software do you primarily use for surface pattern design?
- What tools do you use for:
- color reduction
- creating and managing colorways
- preparing files for production
- Why did you choose this software over other options?
- What are the biggest downsides or frustrations with your current tools?
- What pain points do you feel no software really solves well yet?
If you use a combination of tools, I’d especially love to hear how your workflow is split and where things get clunky.
Thanks so much — any insights are really appreciated.
If this question isn’t appropriate for the sub, please let me know and I’m happy to adjust or remove.
