So I will try to make this one short, had a mild medical issue that was affecting me pretty seriously at the time. My work offers private health care so used it to attempt to get a resolution quickly. My insurance covers pretty much everything, went to a private hospital appointment and got a bunch of tests and a quick procedure. Everything was covered but small issue with 1 of the tests, I had to sign releases for all medical records. My insurance company chased the hospital for months on end for this information and didn't pay for this one test till it was provided, the hospital passed the cost of this onto me and while I was chasing them to actually respond to the insurance company. They passed it to a debt collector who calls me twice a day every other day and sends letters and emails to me constantly.

I have offered to pay the hospital the 800 pounds while the insurance company deals with the hospital to clear thus issue up. The insurance Company have been great with me, they have share proof of the requests to the hospital that have gone unanswered. They have also explained, if they relevant information is released by the hospital they would cover the cost and refund me if I have paid the hospital.

I don't want to pay the debt collectors, mainly because I am stubborn and they are arseholes.

The hospital refuse to take the payment from me and say I have to pay the debt collectors, but this is essentially all the hospitals issue.

Where do I stand? Do I have to just suck it up and pay the collectors and wait for the hospital to actually respond to the insurance for my refund?
