I've been using airbnb since people still thought it was sketchy so I've stayed in quite a few and had .. mixed experiences but this one takes the cake.

Advertised as a private studio that shares a back yard with the host's home (fine!) but when we finally got our check in instructions found we would be going through their garage every time we needed to enter/exit the suite which was annoying but again, no big deal!

Except when we entered initially the host's husband and children came out to greet us which was very weird and uncomfortable, brushed it off.

We got inside.. no cooking space as advertised, the sauna was broken, no cleaning supplies and we had a multiple day stay.

The sauna was also broken but still "functional" which the host did not disclose until well after we arrived and I contacted them to ask.

I turned on the sink and a wooden paper towel holder fell off of the wall nearly hitting me in the head.

Despite all that we didn't have the money or time to re-book his birthday trip and he really wanted the sauna so despite any red flags we continued and had a nice stay regardless with some adjustments to our plans.

Before checkout I .. gathered all towels into a basket, threw away ALL trash, scrubbed out the refrigerator because I had spilled my coffee and ensured it was as clean as possible without any supplies. It needed a good sweep as it's an outside access studio and we were there for 3 nights.

Host left me an awful review and my account has been in review for 3 weeks now.

I didn't think to take pictures and document everything because I didn't want to make a stink about it. Am I just screwed now?

*I've proven false claims on my account before, that's why they went straight to ban instead of a violation.*
