Stuck in the Upwork loop as a new freelancer, looking for advice
I have 5 years of experience in software development (Python, PHP, React, AWS) but I am struggling to get traction on Upwork because of the classic catch-22: no reviews means no clients, no clients means no reviews.
The high-budget jobs are too competitive without a profile, and the cheap jobs are either irrelevant or not worth the time. I am not looking for shortcuts, just trying to land my first 2-3 reviews legitimately.
Has anyone found a good way to break this loop? I am also open to finding clients outside Upwork and bringing them to the platform. Any advice appreciated.
