(Spoilers for LN2 and minor spoilers for Altered Echoes)
We have seen in altered echoes that there are other children emprisonned in the tower (besides Six). But for what ? What is the purpose (assuming the Tower is a conscious entity) of the Tower ?
My theory is that the Tower seeks to imprison as many people as it can, in order to torture them/turn them into Monster. We can see it with the residant of the city (being mutated by watching the TV) and with Six (being turned into a monster).
With that in mind, i think the Thin Man is just another monster made by the Tower to capture children, wich will also be totured/turned into monsters. The Thin Man here is a particuliar monster, I think he has been made to be the « Hunter » of the Tower.
But How did the Tower turned Mono into the Thin Man ? Another theory I have after watching altered echoes and the finals levels of LN2, is that the Tower has the power to mess/twist/change people memories and perception (along with physical mutations).
So by this logic, the Thin Man does not necessarily remembers that he IS Mono and he does not try to pursue Six to prevent the events that will follow. He is just send by the Tower in order to create the time loop, that will allow the Tower to capture Mono is order to turn him into the Thin Man.
Witch I think is an even more depressing fate.
