First American Airlines Flight - Wow
Had been a Delta guy being based at MSP but now in SF. Was in NYC for a wedding last week and American wanted $2k for business class (compared to $6k for Delta and United when I booked last November). Despite the A321T showing its age, we had two amazing flights.
Business class cabin to JFK last week, the chicken Florentine was excellent and generous portions of the caviar. Admirals Lounge at SFO is fine, maybe one step below Delta Sky Club SFO. Mei at the bar was lovely and good Bloody Mary.
I upgraded our return to FC so we could visit the Chelsea lounge, since I know Flagship First isn’t long for this world meaning this was likely my only chance (without flying overseas via JFK). That was so worth it. Our food was frankly better than the dinner we ate at an Upper East Side restaurant the night before, and I drank probably a bottle of Laurent-Perrier. Nalini was so lovely at the bar. Highlight included an older gentlemen complaining (to everyone, for ten minutes) that the lounge doesn’t have bottled San Pellogrino.
Last night’s Wellington (obligatory pic attached) was fine, I think the Florentine out of SFO was better. So too was the caviar portion leaving SFO compared to JFK. Between the cookies, olives and nuts, sundaes and bubbly I think I had 4,000 calories on this flight.
It was an excellent, indeed almost flawless intro to the American Airlines brand, and I sent compliments for each and everyone of the individuals who provided me service because they did an excellent job. Also, agree with many of say the business class seats on the 321t were more comfortable than first class.
