Upgrading my Specialized Sirrus group set
Hello. I’m after some advice as I’ve got myself slightly confused upgrading my hybrid/gravel bike.
The bike came with an unbranded crankset and SRAM NX, never liked the NX, just felt a bit woolly compared to my XT or SLX on my mountain bikes.
After 600 miles of winter riding, the bottom bracket went all creaky, so though this an opportune time to do a little upgrade. Had spare Shimano Deore cassette (11-51), mech and a nice XT shifter all in 11 speed - brilliant. Wanted to keep the 40t up front, but can’t find a chain ring that will fit the 96bcd asymmetrical Deore crankset I have spare (I did order a chainring, but it was standard 96bcd and not asymmetrical).
Am I asking a bit much trying to fit 40t x 11-51?
Having done some research, would a GRX crankset with a 40t chain ring be suitable?
Any advice gratefully received.
