Does anyone else feel like the security around Yorinobu’s Rayfield was way too insane for just a car? It got me thinking: Yorinobu is definitely playing for team Blue Eyes, or he’s being completely puppeted by SSI. I mean, why the hell would those creepy "men in blue" be guarding his newly ordered ride? It makes no sense unless there’s a direct connection. If we take it a step further, I believe the same group is manipulating V directly through the Relic. Why? Because right before you decide whether to tell Peralez the truth, SSI calls you and explicitly says they know everything about V. They have us on a leash.
In my opinion, Yorinobu knew we were in the penthouse from the start. He killed his father because it gave him an alibi, and he needed us as the perfect scapegoats. Dex, on the other hand, was meant to kill us regardless—just to activate Johnny in V’s body (or Jackie’s, if he had survived the getaway). Why Johnny? Because Silverhand is the only way to lure out Alt Cunningham, and Alt is the most guaranteed way to destroy Mikoshi. It feels like a massive setup by external forces. Before you say I’ve gone off the deep end, look at what Dex asks us at the very beginning: "Quiet life or blaze of glory?" He planned for our "death" from the first meeting.
Also, think about how fast Johnny’s attitude changes. One night he’s trying to kill us, and the next day he’s our best bud. To me, that’s terrifying because it’s not "him"—it’s a digital construct, an engram. It’s code, not a person. This makes it easy for Blue Eyes and SSI to manipulate V by "patching" or modifying Johnny’s personality to keep us on track. I believe all the "canonical" choices are the ones that serve Mr. Blue Eyes: sending So Mi to the Moon, staying quiet about Peralez, and the Crystal Palace heist.
Why do I think this? Because the game sets up Arasaka as the main villain from day one. Sure, they are morally bankrupt, but they maintain a certain balance in the world. By destroying Arasaka, V destroys that balance in favor of other forces (likely Blue Eyes). If his organization achieves hegemony, humanity is way more screwed because, through their personality-modifying experiments, we will simply stop being ourselves. XD
Does this make sense to you guys, or am I overthinking it?
