Using Sungyesa tips + some Korean terminology
Korean living abroad, prepping for incisional DES this summer. I've been using Sungyesa and Babitalk mostly (Gangnam Unni doesn't seem to work on my phone for some reason).
Tip I learnt from a YT video - Sungyesa is heavily vetted as accounts are linked to users' phone numbers and clinics can request for negative reviews to be removed, but a lot of people circumvent this by only writing the initials of clinics and surgeons.
e.g. if I wanted to search the surgeon Jang Wonyoung 장원영 from IVE 아이브 clinic, I'd search ㅇㅇㅂ ㅈㅇㅇ and that way I can see a few of the negative or neutral reviews people have posted as well.
There was a one-man clinic I was planning on having a consult at but upon seeing multiple reviews reporting that the surgeon tends to do a similar line on everyone, rather than tailoring it to the individual patient, I removed it from my shortlist.
Also, some terminology - 손품 is slang for shortlisting, 발품 is slang for IRL consults of clinics. e.g. 발품후기 would be a write-up of a bunch of IRL consults.
I've been reading a lot of these to know what to expect about the surgeons' and consultants' manners, and also rough pricings, as a lot of people report back the quotes they receive. Obviously it will be higher if you are foreign but if you have South Korean nationality these will be good guidance.
Another tip would be to search reviews via a specific procedure you want done or your main concerns, e.g. 짝짝이 for asymmetric eyes or 매부리코 for a hooked nose - this will allow you to find reviews by people with similar concerns to you. I did this and found that the same few surgeons tended to do eyes that looked similar to mine well, with results I liked, which is how I made my personal shortlist.
!!!! In addition to finding 'after' photos that suit your taste, it's really really important to look for reviews with 'before' photos which look similar to you !!!!
