Hi everyone. I’ve been lurking here a while but first post today.
I started Vyvanse 30mg in early Feb (amazing initially) and have recently been increased to 50mg. When it works, it’s great. My head is clear (AND SO QUIET!!), I’m productive, mood is good. I feel much more present in the moment on the good days. But it’s really inconsistent. Some days I feel like I’ve taken nothing.
Im finding the 50mg Vyvanse quite stimulating on the way up (have to hold myself back a bit), with
1–2 hours of really good attention and focus and
then it drops off quickly. It’s leaving me exhausted, irritable and I could genuinely nap in work after this crash and I’m left feeling a bit miserable. A decent breakfast/lunch/dinner (especially protein) helps a bit but it doesn’t fix it. During my period it basically felt like it wasn’t working at all and I was back to square one. Because of this, I was given 5mg Dexamfetamine as a top-up and honestly that feels much better. It’s a much smoother onset, more predictable, less stimulating, lasts ~4–6 hours and no crash. I have better focus that I can apply well and I’m far less jittery.
So now I’m trying to figure out what’s actually going on. Is Vyvanse just not suiting me? I would hate to give up just yet. Has anyone had it this short/inconsistent? It’s like it’s almost getting me up over that really high wall but then stops short.
Would lowering dose to maybe 40mg and adding IR top-ups x 2 help? Or is it even a possibility to switch to IR only (3x/day)? I could also increase to 70mg OD but I’d be worried I’d be high as a kite on this dose. Or should I switch to something else entirely? I don’t feel ready to give up on it just yet as the benefits have been amazing. Just the wearing off too quick is kinda making it unsustainable which is so disappointing and frustrating!
Thank you all for reading and taking the time to reply.
