How much do University Prestige, and Major name matter (CS vs CE vs EE)

I initially applied to computer or engineering, or electrical & computer engineering, because I wanted to go into hardware. But right now, I kinda want to go back to doing software since the salary seems much higher. I got into UC Berkley for Electrical & Computer Engineering (which is close to EE), and Computer Engineering at UCLA.
Most advice I've been given is to go to UCB due to its prestige in tech, but I also don't want to potentially get stuck in hardware. I want flexibility because I don't actually know what I want to do, hoping to figure it out after I transfer.

Would a UCB ECE title be easier or harder to get into software roles over a UCLA CE?

Shifter Turret Leak

I'm pretty sure my shifter turret is leaking as I filled it with oil, and now there's oil on the ground underneath my car. The shifts felt nice for the first few days but now I am struggling to put it into gear 1 again.

Is this an expensive fix, and can I just cover the assembly with high-temp grease instead?

▲ 0 r/ECE

I'm transferring to a 4-year program, and I got accepted to T20's, but one is for ECE, the other is for CE. I originally wanted to be embedded, so leaning towards ECE, but I heard CS/CE is higher salary and easier jobs...
