Generator Oil

Generator Oil

Hello everyone, would love your opinion on a couple of things generator related. I just had a local company install a Kohler air cooled 26 kw generator. I brought up the topic of "oil" to one of the installation workers who told me to use any quality 5w-30 full synthetic, even told me I could use oils formulated for automobiles such as Mobil 1. However since these generators run at a high 3600 rpm's and Small engine oils often have higher levels of zinc and phosphorus to provide better anti-wear protection, whereas modern automotive oils limit these additives to protect catalytic converters. With that said I have narrowed my choices down to 2 options, both are 5w-30 full synthetics. First option is Kohler for gaseous fueled generators, the 2nd option is Amsoil for small engine / commercial grade. Obviously my goal is to protect the internal parts from unnecessary wear and I want an oil that will be able to handle the heat generated by the Kohler motor spinning at 3600 rpm's. Also, If I go with Amsoil, could that possibly void the warranty on the generator? So let's hear what you think gents. I appreciate your input.
