My son will be 12 months next week, and he has always been a pretty bad eater. We started with purees at 6 months, then when he showed interest in trying solids around 8 months, we pivoted to more BLW. He is on 3 bottles a day (9oz in morning, 8oz after nap, 5 oz before bed), and three meals per day. No matter what time of day, he just barely eats! He will sample what's on his plate (literally maybe a bite or two) then just fuss and whine until we take him out of the highchair. He has done this pretty much since we started solids. I have tried offering solids prior to bottles, I've tried offering a large variety of foods, and he still just doesn't really want to eat a whole meal. If fruit is put in front of him, he'll always devour that, but anything besides fruit he will only take a couple of bites. I don't necessarily think it's a matter of not being hungry, as he will often eat a pouch or puffs/snacks if offered. Is he just picky at an early age? Is this normal? I don't believe it's a mechanical issue as he seems to have no issues with picking food up and getting it into his mouth or chewing. He is on the smaller side (only 18lbs at 12 months) so I worry about weaning totally off milk.
