Get a degree or nah?

Legal assistant in construction lien law for almost a year. Dabbled as a temp years ago but no other law experience otherwise.

My mom and I work in the same office. She’s been in the field since’84 and with this same attorney for 25 years. She, the other assistant in the office and my attorney are all saying the degree is worthless. The other attorney in the office is all for it.

There are a few paths I may go with the degree. Main fields of interest are real estate law, employment law (union based not corporate), and public criminal defense. I’m super interested in ADR (employment contract negotiation) and would like to eventually be a mediator/arbitrator.

Really looking for some objective advice here as I’ve never finished a degree and I feel passionate about my areas of interest. I also feel like I’m a good fit for legal work.
