Hey Friends! I started derby in October, got skirted in December, and I'm ready to level up my gear. I'm a fast learner... my style is basically "throw myself at it until it clicks"... and I'm starting to hit a wall with my current setup. I've been reading through previous posts and gotten a lot of useful information but want to ask about my specific case.

Currently on Pacer Aero skates (size 9, probably should be a 10 for me.  I'm a men's 10 shoe, ~200 lbs, trans-femme). I'm getting wheel bite on hard turns even after trying harder bushings. Running Atom Savant 93A wheels on semi polished concrete for practice days (covered but open to the elements). Creative lacing has kept things tolerable but I don't think I can progress much further here.

My coach has slotted me primarily for jamming and want to develop my footwork. I know stability will bring speed for me.

Looking for community input on:

- **New vs. used** at my stage - Would it be wise for me to go the used route when I might find myself fighting problematic equipment?

- **Skates** - what plate/boot combos are people loving at a reasonable price point especially in similar conditions to where i find myself? I have had 45° plates recommended to me. Worth the investment?

- **Wheels** — anything better suited for my surface and style?

- **What am I not asking that I should be?**

All opinions welcome. I know it's subjective, just want to make an informed decision. Thanks!
