My manager prohibited to speak spanish
Hello! I just started working in Starbucks like a month ago, so far it’s being fun, I moved from Miami to live with my mom and got hired to the closest Starbucks, my first language is spanish (I moved to the us when I turned 19, I’m 24 now) I do know how to hold a conversation, write and all, but since im not native there’s some things that flew over my head sometimes, like on this occasion when a client told me his name and I misheard and put Joseph instead of joe or sum (i couldn’t care less) and when they shouted his name he made a complaint that it was wrong to my manager, so she gave me this dead face stare to me and said “PUT THE NAMES ON THE ORDERS RIGHT, ASK THEM TO SPELLED TO YOU, OK???” And in my country we have a expression that I used in my head of course where I want to say something but I’ll stick my mouth into my ass and don’t reply, but I wanted to say “OOH DID I JUST HIT HIS LAST NERVE?? POOR GROWN ASS MAN HAVE HIS COFFE WITH HIS NAME MISSPELLED, IS NOT LIKE IN THIS COUNTRY THERES NOTHING WORST HAPPENING RIGHT NOW THAN THIS, KIM THERES PEOPLE DYING!” anyway i kept my mouth shut, but today i went into the store and half of the crew we are Latinos (some are born here but still their second language is Spanish) and they just told me this manager prohibited to talk in Spanish in the store and we laughed about it, I told to my closest co worker what happened to me and she told me this action was really unfair from her since she should knowledge that English is not my first language and what she did is unconscious and racist this manager right here also it’s German which for me make it funnier for obvious reasons, in my store we got a whole crew of different people from different countries but this manager seems to draw a line on speaking spanish, ok sure… also who else loves the combo of a grilled cheese and avocado spread? Yummy
