I have two batches of mead going in 5L plastic cans, one melomel and one cyser. Both OG 1.110 with D47 for my choice of yeast.
The latest reading yesterday was at 1.01 and I realized that I don't have any good containers to rack the current amount of liquid to secondary, I currently have about 4L of liquid in the cans.
So my question is if it's possible or even a good idea to add a little more must (honey and water only) of the same OG to top it off before the fermentation ends completely and thus restart it so I can fill up a demijohn properly for secondary, or if I'm better off trying to find some 2L bottles when it's time to rack?
Edit: So I guess I'm technically asking if it's a good idea to step feed the mead to increase volume instead of ABV?
