Upcoming Aiden Firmware Update Version 1.5.9
Hi everyone the product team wanted to give a heads up about some final validation work we’re doing on Aiden related to an upcoming firmware update.
Starting yesterday, we began a slow rollout of firmware version 1.5.9 to around 300 devices and are closely monitoring their performance and feedback. Some of you have already been helping us beta test this version, thanks for your help so far! If you happen to be part of this initial 300 rollout group, feel free to drop feedback in this thread as you use the machine.
Here are the main changes included in this release:
- Connectivity improvements: This release includes a number of under the hood connectivity and reliability improvements.
- Timeskip fix: Previously, the machine could occasionally jump forward by around a minute during brewing. You should now see much more accurate brew countdown behavior with little to no “timeskip” during the brew cycle.
- Brew timing accuracy improvements: In previous firmware versions, the timing of individual infusion stages could sometimes be slightly inaccurate. We’ve improved stage timing accuracy in this release. This may slightly affect how some profiles come out. We wanted to give everyone a heads up in case some profiles need minor dialing in afterward.
- Descale timeout fix: We’ve updated the descale flow so completion is properly recognized after stage 3, and the process should no longer time out as aggressively during descaling.
- Showerhead UX removal: In older firmware, Aiden would show an error if the configured showerhead setting did not match the brew basket size. We are removing the showerhead-specific logic. We do not expect this to meaningfully impact the brewing experience, but wanted to call it out in case users notice the change. Basket size warnings related to brew settings in the UI will continue to function as normal.
Timeline:
The plan is to continue rolling out after this initial validation period of 1-2 weeks. If your Aiden is connected and online, you'll get the update automatically!
Our goal with this release was to address some of the larger UX issues we’ve seen while continuing to improve overall stability and consistency both in brewing performance and WiFi-connected functionality. We’ve got more improvements planned down the road, but getting the platform solid and reliable has to come first.
