After rewatching the trailers for a couple of times, I started realizing that the story might be hiding a tragedy just like the older games in the franchise.
Pretty much every main GTA game had some kind of betrayal:
Catalina betraying Claude in ;
Big Smoke and Ryder in ;
Dimitri in ;
Michael betraying Trevor in .
So I think it’s REALLY unlikely that GTA 6 won’t have something similar.
The difference now is that Jason and Lucia seem to literally be the emotional core of the story. Their relationship feels more important than any heist. And honestly, that’s exactly why I think Rockstar might destroy it by the end.
My main theory: I don’t think it’ll be a simple ‘girlfriend betrays boyfriend’ situation. I think it’ll be something more psychological.
Maybe:
someone in their crew betrays them;
the police pressure Jason;
Lucia is hiding something;
or both of them slowly start distrusting each other because of the pressure of the criminal life.
The trailers give off a strong:
‘us against the world’
kind of vibe.
And usually when a story pushes that feeling REALLY hard… it’s because the world wins in the end.
I also think there’s a good chance of alternate endings like :
escaping together;
one of them dying;
both dying;
betrayal;
prison;
or even a secret/true ending.
If I had to guess: Lucia feels like the more emotional and impulsive character. So if betrayal happens, she’d probably be the one driven by revenge.
Jason gives off the vibe of someone who’s tired of that lifestyle, while Lucia seems willing to keep going until the very end.
Another thing: GTA 6 really reminds me of:
;
;
and even the emotional tone of .
Honestly, I think Rockstar is trying to create the most emotional ending in the franchise.
