Hello everyone,
I’m a total beginner starting from absolute zero. I’ve decided to commit to two years of consistent practice, but I want to make sure I’m not building bad habits right out of the gate.
I tracked this cover of Justin Bieber’s "Love Yourself" in my home studio. To give you the most honest look at my voice, there is zero pitch correction or autotune on this. I only used basic compression and EQ so the levels are clear.
Since I’ve never had a coach, I’m flying blind on the technical side. I understand the concept of pitch, but I’m really confused about vocal placement. To my own ears, I can’t tell if the tone sounds "stuck" or if I'm just missing the mark entirely.
I’m looking for an experienced singer or coach to help me with two things:
1. The Reality Check: Based on this clip, what is my biggest technical weakness? Is it my pitch accuracy, or is my placement causing the most issues?
- The Homework: What are 2 or 3 specific exercises I should do every day to start fixing those specific problems?
I’m ready to put in the work, I just need to know which direction to point my effort in. Thanks in advance for the help!
