My numbers have recently spiked, confirmed with 2 tests a month apart.

Iron: 300 (85-90 over the past 2 years)

Ferritin: 15 (8-11 over the past two years)

Saturation: 65% (23% over the past two years)

All other labs came back normal.

I have had the same diet & exercise routine over the past 2 years. I have never taken iron supplements or vitamins/supplements containing iron. I have no idea why my iron suddenly 3xed while ferritin only inched up.

My doctor has recommended hemochromatosis genetic testing since my mother is a carrier of the HFE variant but my brother had similar lab results & was only ruled as a carrier of the HFE variant.

I am not sure if these numbers are indicative of hemochromatosis onset since they are only slightly out of normal range, even if they are way off my normal levels. I know high ferritin is a hallmark of hemochromatosis & I have never run high. Does this look like early hemochromatosis or something else?

Open to any feedback. Thanks!
