Staying on Zepbound long-term with Virta? Maintenance dosing / insurance questions

Hey everyone,

I’m currently on month two with Virta Health and taking Zepbound. So far, my experience has been really positive—everyone I’ve worked with has been great, and I’m making solid progress with weight loss.

I was approved through my insurance for Zepbound until around July/August 2026, but I’m still paying about $200/month out of pocket, which definitely adds up.

Now I’m starting to think ahead…

My program seems to lean toward eventually coming off the medication and maintaining weight loss through lifestyle changes. But I’ve struggled with obesity my entire life, and honestly, my appetite is no joke—I feel like I’ve got the appetite of a 500 lb man. This medication has been a game changer for controlling that.

So I’m wondering:

•	Does anyone know if Virta supports staying on Zepbound long-term for maintenance?

•	Has anyone been able to stay on a lower “maintenance dose” through them?

•	Is there any chance they can help extend insurance coverage, or am I basically stuck paying out of pocket?

•	If not, what are people doing after programs like this—Lilly Direct, compounding (while it’s still available), or something else?

I’m honestly pretty concerned about coming off and gaining everything back, especially knowing how strong my appetite is without the medication.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone with experience or advice.

Thanks 🙏
