any advice?
I’m feeling really defeated and discouraged with my R-CPD journey and wanted to see if anyone else has been in a similar position.
I’m now scheduling my third Botox treatment. My doctor told me I’m the only patient she’s had who has needed 3 treatments, everyone else was “cured” after 1 or 2. She thinks one of the variables affecting my results may be my acid reflux, so she wants me to make lifestyle changes and get that under control before/along with this next round. She’s increasing my dose to 120 units this time.
At this point I have discomfort basically all day long. It constantly feels like there’s an air bubble sitting at the bottom of my throat/chest. Whenever I push or force the air out, it just replaces itself immediately. I make weird loud throat/chest noises every time I expel air and it’s honestly become really embarrassing and exhausting. I’ve literally started warning new people I meet that I’m sorry if I make weird noises but I can’t help it because of the discomfort.
The only thing that consistently gives me relief is laying down. I also went through the Behavioral Eructation Retraining Protocol (BERP) and unfortunately it didn’t help me.
I technically can expel air now, but it doesn’t feel normal or relieving most of the time. It’s mostly loud gurgles, croaks, weird “alien” noises, partial burps, etc. I feel helpless and honestly scared that I’m going to be stuck like this forever.
Has anyone else needed a third round and eventually gotten better? Did anyone stay in this weird in-between phase for a long time before things clicked? And does anyone have any tips/tricks for the trapped air feeling or the constant throat bubble sensation?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through something similar because I’m feeling pretty defeated at this point:/
