Are we doing okay?
We’ve had Redrick (dog) for little over 3 years and just brought home Ozzy (cat) little over two weeks ago….
Redrick is a sweetheart, super social and confident. He has no idea he’s almost 90lbs but is a gentile giant. Ozzy is a confident, playful and silly little guy who walked into his new room like he owned the place.
These first few days have been a bit hectic, he’s veeeeery interested in the little critter downstairs and will whine at the door if he hears movement. I thought he’d be over it by now but he’s still getting exited. He’s also already seen the cat which I didn’t want to have happened yet. The past day or so he’s been seeming a bit depressed, probably because he’s been getting corrected more (due to the fixation on the door sometimes) as well as having less attention from me.
Our apartment is 3 floors, only the middle floor has another room attached but it’s full of office equipment for my partners job. Would it be better to move the cat to the same level as the dog or are we too late for that now?
I just wanna know if we’re on the right path or if I should spend the $400 for an in home animal behavioralist consult. I might also just be wanting to rush it which I can accept ( farm girl here- they were just thrown into the mix and figured their own way out, obviously this doesn’t work for a house in the suburbs)
