Should i get an indoor or outdoor cat?
Back story:
I live in one of the many places where cats are not considered invasive so growing up we always had outdoor cats. We stayed in the more rural suburbs. Mix of houses and farm land. If we pissed them off enough they would leave, but we would always see them at the neighbors house there after.
Few years ago I moved into the city center with my girlfriend. She lives closer to the city and had indoor cats and insisted we should also go indoor, listing all the usual talking points. I figured that's just the right thing to do. Turns out there were tons of outdoor cats in the area, so it dint actually matter.
That cat was the most needy, most loud fucking cat i have ever owned. Don't get me wrong, I loved her, she has a very special place in my heart, but she drove me up the bloody walls. We took her for walks and played with her daily but still she would not stop screaming. Unfortunately, one evening after a night out we opened the door and she booked it out. Next day we found out she got run over.
So its 9 months later. We moved into a bigger place and we are thinking of getting a kitten. But now there is a point of tension between me and my partner. I think that Princess Sequel wouldn't have gotten hit if she was an outdoor cat. My partner disagrees. I work from home so i am the one that would have to deal with the never ending screaming if we get another screecher.
Tldr: I grew up with out door cats. i got an indoor cat that got run over. After owning 15 cats in my life that has only happened to 1 other cat. Now i want an outdoor cat, but partner disagrees.
