Waddling back to this sub for more Qs, hi corn crew~!
So following up from last week, we are setting up Mochis new enclosure space to size her up since her current is getting too small for her growth!

Currently we have a heat pad setup with a temp gauge, but I have been reading about how heat pads are not necessarily the correct way to provide heat since in the wild they are drawn towards the heat of the sun from above (my understanding). So we are looking into making the move from pad to lamp! I would love insight from others on recommendations on brands or types (what to look for?), and what about exposure? Example, Mochi loves her warm wet moss hide at all hours of the day and night, it’s where she likes to hang out the most when she’s not elsewhere. I’m worried about the logistics of a lamp because seemingly she wouldn’t have access to a warm area at all times of the day and night if it’s on a timer?? Wouldn’t that leave the enclosure fully ‘cold’ for half of the time or longer?

Also, she is an albino! So her needs vary a bit from a normal corn… she has access to UV for some hours a day (with adequate hides), but I am not sure the logistics of a heat lamp setup and if that affects albinos like the UV does 🤞

Anyways TLDR if you have an albino or experience with albinos I would love to know what you’re doing for heat! ☺️

Thanks again in advance!! 💜

Hi all just a couple questions about my lil noodle albino corn, Mochi!

1.) does the coloration on their bottom look normal? They were coiled during feeding and I happened to notice that they sort of look sliiightly greenish on the bottom. They once were fully pink and white but over time have started to develop yellow tones that grow up the side of the body slowly over time, but this is the first I’ve noticed it seeming like a light greenish tone. Other scales don’t look like there’s any issues or pain so I’m assuming it’s not rot or anything, but just curious if the coloration is normal?

2.) can anyone guess the sex based on the tail? We’ve had Mochi for a while but have never been able to tell the sex!

They are an adult but still growing. We had gotten bad advice on feeding in the past and are working on getting them up to their proper adult size, we just scored a 40gal tank for them today and I’m sure they will be excited for the extra space now that they’re growing healthy :)

If anyone has enrichment recommendations for a larger tank would love ideas!

Thanks for the info!! ^w^
