Borrowed Water Bottles Happy Teacher Appreciation Week Ugh
Hello all! I’m a transitioning educator who is full-time in a master’s degree program, part-time teaching, and part-time interning. I’ve worked at this school for several years as a full-time teacher before transitioning to better my career. I went into work today and saw the teacher appreciation week snacks and new reusable water bottles in the break room. I was told by another associate that we could pick a water bottle. Cool. Next, I’m trying to determine which water bottle I should pick, and I get reminded by someone else that the multiple water bottles on the shelf are to be borrowed, and the expectation is to return them for others to use. Wtf. These are cheap, Amazon brand water bottles, it’s teacher appreciation week, and this is how my admin shows that they care. There has been so much bullshit I’ve dealt with over the years that I’ve taught. Between being physically abused on a regular basis, admin not backing me, being overworked, underpaid, and more. I love working with kids so much, but to be taken advantage of and undervalued by admin gets old. I’m so glad I’m leaving this profession. That is all. Hope you all are surviving this week!
