Note to Mods: This is NOT a low effort post. I’ve already spent time on Google, Quora, and YouTube, but the info there is either very old or sounds like a marketing script. I’m genuinely sorry if this seems redundant, but I'm looking for recent, personal takes from current students that a search engine just can't give me.

Hey everyone, I’m joining Sahyadri for CSE this year and just wanted to get some honest opinions on what the college is actually like. I’m not trying to be negative or anything, I’m just curious about a few things I've heard.

First off, what's the deal with those robbery stories? I read about that mass phone theft incident during exams where bags were left outside. I know the person was eventually caught, but do you guys actually feel safe leaving your bags outside the halls now? I'm wondering if they improved security or if I should just be extra careful with my stuff.

I also want to know about the general vibe of the place. The marketing makes it seem like a huge startup hub, but what’s the daily life actually like for a student? Is it a place where people really hang out and work on cool projects together, or does it feel more like a strict school environment where everyone is just counting down the hours?

Lastly, how is the faculty for CSE? Are the professors friendly and easy to approach if I have doubts, or do they just read off PPTs and call it a day? I’m really hoping the teaching is actually decent and not just something where I have to live on YouTube to understand anything.

If any seniors or current students can give me the real picture, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
