So I'm a class 12th student i gave neet yesterday and it didn't go well I knew it my prep was not the best and even in the last months many personal things also happened in my family etc, and after coming back from the exam all the arguments and everything , I was already doubting that this neet study is not for me I can't handle it, I tried to tell my brother about my interest in psychology but he wasn't the most supportive so I shut it down, but now I don't think I can handle can taking a drop that life is just not for me I break down, I was in coaching since 11th for neet but I never fit in my whole experience was very bad. And even when I picture myself taking a drop i know I won't be able to handle it.

So is it bad that I don't wanna take a drop and try psychology?, I wanna apply for jain university my application is half filled just need permission from my parents and my plan is to do bsc psychology, Internishps and then msc from abroad in i-o psychology

Still I don't wanna take any bad decisions so I'll try to go to a career counselor, please drop any suggestions

Hi everyone, I really need some honest advice because I’m feeling super confused about my career.

I’m currently in 12th (PCB stream) and was originally preparing for NEET, but I’ve realized I’m not sure if I truly want to become a doctor. Lately, I’ve been seriously considering psychology, especially fields like industrial-organizational psychology or maybe even clinical psychology in the future.

Here’s my situation:

- I didn’t study properly in 11th, so I already feel a bit behind in my current path.

- NEET feels very intense and long-term (MBBS + PG etc.), and I’m not sure I want to commit that many years if my heart isn’t fully in it.

- Psychology seems interesting to me, and I like the idea of understanding people and maybe working in corporate or mental health settings.

- I also really want a career that could give me opportunities to go abroad eventually.

My doubts:

  1. Is switching to psychology after PCB a good decision, or am I making a mistake leaving NEET?

  2. What is the actual career scope in psychology (especially in India vs abroad)?

  3. Is it true that you need a master’s/PhD to earn well in psychology?

  4. How hard is it to build a stable career in this field compared to MBBS?

  5. If anyone here is in psychology (especially I-O or clinical), what does your daily work and work-life balance actually look like?

I’m honestly scared of making the wrong decision and regretting it later. I don’t want to choose something just because it looks good on social media or because others expect it.

Any real experiences, advice, or even reality checks would really help me right now.
