I joined a team to work on a new software implementation but that has been delayed. So now I’m being asked to lead enhancement initiatives in our department. I’m fine with this except people want to complain about issues but then have no clear solutions to offer. I’m still learning what they do so it’s hard for me to take things, make decisions, and run with them. And, many of these things cross departments so there is then the added layer of “interesting” personalities and work drama. I can’t stand corporate politics as I feel like it’s just noise in a world where, at the end of the day, none of this stuff truly matters in the grand scheme of life. So I ask you:

How do you confidently push things forward without already knowing the answers of what the team needs?

How do you willingly go into meetings knowing there will be drama involved and make adults play well in the sand?

I close knowing fully well this will make me better prepared for the process of rolling out a full implementation in the future. Just trying to trudge through the initial “I don’t want to effing do this” in current situation so truly looking for any coaching tips.
