I’m deciding between two offers and would appreciate perspectives, especially from those who’ve weighed BigLaw vs. in-house paths. The first is an AI Legal Counsel role at a major non-faang tech company, working closely with product and engineering teams on AI governance, regulatory, and deployment issues. The role is very open source heavy, which the hiring manager said they would train me on. My main hesitation is whether moving in-house in such a specific role could limit certain longer-term career options.

The second option is a senior associate role at a v20. I’ve been practicing M&A and ecvc working for almost ten years. So This would mean continuing in BigLaw with broad exposure to venture financings and emerging companies, while preserving a wide range of future exit opportunities.

My primary deciding factor is long-term career mobility and would value any thoughts you all have.
